''Soaring Freedom'' showcases America's national bird symbol of the bald eagle representing freedom, strength and beauty in celebration of the 250th National Anniversary in 2026. While being highlighted on a beautiful spalted maple slab with live edge, there is much tiny detail all throughout this piece especially within the body and face. I first saw the vision for the flying bird due to the unique shape of the wood alone that sparked the idea of a bird’s wingspan fitting perfectly within this wood shape. In late 2024, I had the honor of assisting in medical treatment of a juvenile bald eagle as a LVT which contributed to my appreciation of this species further.
